Do-it-all Designer UI/UX/Web/Marketing/Merch etc. | Long-term Position – Translator job

Saturday Inc. is a tech startup.  We have an app.  It is an endurance nutrition coach in your pocket.  It's called Saturday.  Saturday: Pro Fuel & Hydration.  We intend to scale.  There is opportunity for this position to earn shares in the company as well as a future full-time position.

It is an on-demand, jack-of-all-trades graphic design position that bridges into roles like a webmaster, web designer, UI/UX specialist, and more.

Long-term, there is a *very* high ceiling for number of hours worked.  It will start slow, but if productivity and quality are high it will ramp up.  Most of all, this is an opportunity to learn every facet of design in a paid position.  You will touch every area of graphic design and manage it all under our highly talented and broadly experienced lead designer & CMO.

Initiative and task-management skills are key.  Bias towards action.  Serving others well, asking questions, and iterating quickly are foundational values in our company.  Communicating efficiently is critical.  Communicating with design, rather than word, is almost always preferred. We prefer someone who can churn things out quickly if needed, and also tolerate and even share in our occasional obsessiveness.

You'll need to enjoy variety in your work, love thinking through hugely diverse graphic design needs, and building, growing, and managing a large library of graphic assets. You will often have a very high degree of ownership in the design process, especially when speed is needed.

This is a "do it all" position.  The ideal applicant will be someone who wants to take extra time to learn new skills to tackle all the tasks.  You will become a more experienced designer in at least a dozen roles, in this position.  Our hope is that you'll stay with us for the long-term but that if you don't you leave our company in an improved career position.

We are looking for someone who can not only design the graphic assets (you pick your software! just design it!) but also someone who can take those designs and go apply them to the website and everything from business cards to t-shirts, to Klaviyo email marketing, to handing off deliverables to video personnel and the app development team.  Bonus points for already using Figma well.  Our exec team loves Figma.

Abilities that are important to have or grow:
– Graphic, web, UI/UX design
– Motion Graphics in web/code/video (html/Js/Lottie/etc)
– Time management & ultra-direct communications.
– Listening ability & creative initiative
– Ability to take design briefs/directions/guides and deliver something innovative.
– Web optimization for speed & responsiveness while retaining high-quality, interactive, user-friendly feel
– CMS system creation & mgmt
– API integrations
– Interdepartmental comms skills… aka: "talking to devs" 😉
– WordPress/Webflow/Square Space
– Adobe Ps, Ai, Id, Ae, Pr
– Figma!!!

We need someone to come in and say "I can design that" and crush our ever-growing design task list.

Here are some examples to give an idea of the variety of things we need designed.

– Marketing emails
– Business cards
– T-shirts & cycling kits
– Water bottles
– YouTube and other social media banners
– Graphic elements within social posts, website blog pages, and marketing emails.
– Headshots
– Stickers
– Promo materials for print
– Packaging for merch & the merch itself
– Pitch decks
– Analytics Dashboards for our exec team
– Graphic assets for delivery to third parties who partner with us, like podcasts, sports teams, sport national governing bodies.
– Social media posts
– Mock-ups of ultra-basic industrial design concepts for physical hardware prototypes.
– Our app!!!

It's crucial for candidates to thoroughly read and understand detailed specifications and context, and learn about our business. Successful applicants should creatively incorporate the word 'fire' in their application to demonstrate attention to detail and thoughtful engagement with complex information.

We welcome a motivated individual with limited experience, eager to learn in a fast-paced, lightly-funded startup with a significant backlog. Compensation will be based on productivity, quality, and experience, with a strong focus on execution.

We aim to integrate potential hires into our project management system for long-term contract work, with the possibility of transitioning to full-time employment. Early on, proficiency in project management software and communication across platforms like Discord, SmartSheets, and email is highly desirable and essential for sustained engagement with our team.

We plan to offer up to five candidates paid trial projects, with potential for full-time positions and company stock options for highly productive and empathetic designers. Subtlety is valued, and using the code word discreetly will show you've read all details. Feel free to ask questions—we value curiosity and strong listening skills.
