Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has issued a statement addressing the presentation cheque discrepancy that occurred during the prize-giving ceremony for the first Test match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

According to SLC’s clarification, the correct prize money awarded to the winning team (Pakistan) is US$5000. However, during the ceremony, Pakistan captain, Babar Azam, was handed a presentation cheque that displayed two different amounts. In writing, the prize money was mentioned as US$2000, but in figures, it correctly showed US$5000.

The error came to light when observant fans shared images of the cheque on social media, prompting SLC to take swift action.

SLC has promptly apologized for the oversight and has assured that measures will be implemented to prevent such mistakes from occurring in future events.
